Vaccination is of primary importance if we want to protect our pet from the most common contagious viral and bacterial diseases that are so widespread in our society with dense pet populations.
The programs we recommend and have used, proven and updated over the years are as follows:
Dogs | 6 weeks | Distemper/parvovirus | | 9 weeks | Heptavalent (Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospira canicola, Leptospira icterohaemorrhagic, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza (kennel cough), Adenovirus type 1) | | 13 weeks | Heptavalent | | 17 weeks | Rabies (together with the chip) |
- Vaccination against these viral and bacterial diseases should be done once a year (booster shots).
- If your pet is occasionally kennelled vaccination against kennel cough is highly recommended.
- The frequency of rabies vaccination is variable from each autonomous region. In the Valencian community it is mandatory every 2 years.
- If you travel or plan to travel outside of Spain, annual rabies vaccination is a must regardless of the requirements of the region in which you live.
- If you are travelling to Great Britain, Norway or Sweden please ask us. We will be happy to give you all the information regarding blood tests, antiparasitic treatments, etc.
Cats | 9 weeks | Pentavalent (rhinotracheitis, panleucopenia, calici, Chlamydia, leukemia) | | 12 weeks | Pentavalent |
- Regardless of the age or origin of your cat on acquiring/adopting we recommend testing for feline leukemia and immunodeficiency before as both can affect the efficacy of any vaccination program.
- Annual booster shots are recommended.
